Did you know that London was the world’s most visited city in 2014 with over 18m visitors passing through? Consistently in the world’s top 10 most popular city destinations, London is synonymous with cool. Which is why it’s the perfect place to host whatever event you might be planning.

But no party is truly complete without a photo booth. From giving guests an instant momento of the night, to pure entertainment, photo booth hire in London has never been so popular. So, to remind your guests why London is the greatest city on the planet, here are six iconic photo booth poses you couldn’t do anywhere but London.

V for Victory

Possibly the most iconic London photo booth pose is the Winston Churchill ‘V for Victory’ pose. Churchill first used the slogan to rally support for the British war effort in July 1941, but the stylish and instantly recognisable pose has survived to this day. To recreate this pose in your party photo booth, you’ll simply need a bowler hat, a big ol’ cigar, and a bit of a glint in your eye. Raise your fingers to make a V shape (palms facing out please, we don’t want to offend anyone…) and press the button. Your party snaps will be more British than Big Ben.

Nelson’s hidden hand

Commemorated by a 50-foot monument in the heart of London’s Trafalgar Square, the Admiral Lord Nelson is remembered for leading the British fleet to victory during the Napoleonic wars. Not to mention sacrificing his life in the process… What makes Nelson’s statue particularly iconic, is his mysterious pose – hiding one hand inside his jacket. No-one knows for certain why Nelson is depicted in this way, but there’s no denying this pose is part of London’s history and identity. To recreate it, all you need is a hand and a coat! And if you’re all about the authenticity, be sure to include a 19th century admiral’s hat in your props box.

The royal wave

If you’re visiting London for the first time, chances are one of your first destinations will be Buckingham Palace, home of our beloved Queen. Should you be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty during your visit, you’ll most certainly witness her trademark wave. Instead of shaking the hand left and right like we common folk, our monarch performs a more elegant and refined version. To pull this off, you’ll need to be dressed up to the nines, maybe include a crown in your photo booth props box for good measure. For best results, set your photo booth to video mode, and host a royal wave competition.

Like a rolling stone

During the swinging 60s, London was the centre of the world. From fashion to art to music, everyone who was anyone wanted to be here. And so when Mick Jagger and his mate Keith formed a rhythm and blues band in 1962, little did they know that London’s notorious reputation would help propel them to world domination. But they’ve done their bit in return over the years. The Jagger pout has become synonymous with the group, and by extension, with London too. For the best results, ruffle your hair a little, put one hand behind your head, and pout like your life depended on it. Pro tip: don’t say cheese, say prunes.

Bond. James Bond

When it comes to putting London in the movies, nobody does it better than Bond. Silver screen hero since 1962, Bond’s pistol-raised pose is about as iconic as they get, not to mention a compulsory London photo booth pose. A toy gun in your props box is all you need at your black tie London party. No fighting over who gets to be Sean Connery though! Your photo booth will never be so popular with the gentlemen.

Austin Powers, baby

And if we’re going to have bond, we have to have Austin Powers. In spite of being a send up of everything we love about Bond, Austin Powers is somehow just as iconic, and maybe even a little bit more London. For the real deal, you’re going to need some stylish NHS specs, a mop-top wig, zany jacket, and – very important – a cravat. If you can throw some crooked false teeth in there, so much the better. Groovy baby, yeah!
